Carl Turner has worked at both ends of the development scale from residential projects, including the award-winning Slip House, to the hugely successful Pop Brixton and Peckham Levels.

Kicking off the second series of talks by architect developers, Turner will discuss how Pop Brixton changed the direction of the practice and reflect on the challenges of being a developer including the pitfalls of getting into business with other investors.

The series is aimed at architects who would like to know more about the opportunities and challenges around being an independent developer, including spotting creative solutions that a non-architect developer will often miss.

Future speakers in this series are Jake Edgley and Catherine Burd.

Amanda Baillieu and Gus Zogolovitch set up Developer Collective in 2018 to teach professionals how to become design-led property developers and give them the contacts and resources to deliver their projects. Their book How to be an Architect Developer was published in September '23.

The talk will be followed by networking drinks and nibbles.

This event is supported by Land Tech and The Building Society.
